Had the same impression as the previous user, at first
When we recieved our pan, my wife was hopping mad. She expected the honey-comb bottom and a smooth lid, like the picture. We got the ridged lid and a smooth bottom, albeit, new and shipped quickly.
We took a trip up to the Williams-Sonoma store near here to compare. It was immediatly obvious what had happened. The vendor took a picture
of the 2.5 qt. braiser and attached it to the 4 qt braiser picture. The 2.5 qt has a honey-combed bottom/smooth lid, but the 4 qt is exactly
what we got, smooth bottomed and ridged lid.
Once we understood, my wife was not so mad. I do wish the vendor would change the picture to match the product, but at least it was misinformed advertising, not deceptive advertising, in my view.
And, with all Staub products, it is excellent; heavy, beautiful enameling, colorful and extremely useful.
We won't buy anything but Staub for my wife's chef excursions..
Great Pan Misrepresented
Staub is a 5 star product. I own Staub before ordering this pan, which like my other pieces performs well. The reason I'm giving 1 star is because of Amazon. I thought I was ordering as the picture showed & the product description stated, the honeycomb bottom. I received a smooth bottomed pan. If I had shopped around, I would have found it for the same price & free shipping just like Amazon. Too much of a hassle to send it back & order from someone else. I needed the pan when I received it. This is the third time I've been misrepresented by Amazon, but the first time I've complained. The other purchases weren't pricey so I let it go. I'm done with Amazon.
